We invite board certified/board eligible Critical Care Intensivists, with experience in caring for cardiothoracic surgery patients, to learn more about this outstanding opportunity to join Hartford HealthCare’s Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI), a national leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, treatment, surgery, and research, providing personalized care to more patients and performing more advanced cardiac procedures than any other cardiac program in Connecticut.  Hartford HealthCare’s Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI) is seeking a full-time Critical Care Intensivist to join our growing intensivist team.  This position will focus on delivering superb clinical care to a diverse, medically complex patient population, supported by the highest-caliber cardiovascular invasive, diagnostic, and surgical services in a collaborative and multidisciplinary setting. 

Position Details and Requirements:

 

  • Opportunity for a BC/BE Critical Care physician to join a team of collegial and highly trained cardiothoracic ICU staff at Hartford Hospital
  • Care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease which can include pre- and post-operative care, heart transplant and/or a Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), and acute mechanical circulatory support (ECMO and intra-aortic balloon pumps) and cardiogenic shock
  • ECMO experience is strongly encouraged
  • Successful candidate will be able to place chest tubes and perform bronchoscopy
  • The Hartford Hospital critical care unit is staffed with highly trained advanced practitioners and fellows
  • The Heart and Vascular Institute is one of the strongest programs in the country. The Cardiac Surgery service performs approximately 1500 surgeries per year. The Advanced Heart Failure Service is one of the largest in New England, with one of the highest post-transplant survival rates in the nation
