Position Details:

Saint Vincent's Medical Center is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a strong, collaborative team of Critical Care Intensivists.  The successful candidate will provide holistic, high-quality care to critically ill patients admitted to the critical care unit.  Working within a multidisciplinary care team, the advanced practitioner will provide day/night coverage.

 

With your comprehensive knowledge of acute / critical care conditions, diagnostics & treatments, you will be expected to diagnose, treat, and manage acute & chronic diseases, perform procedures, order and interpret diagnostic tests, speak to patients & families about their conditions, communicate effectively and collaborate with a variety of consultants.

Location:  2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, 06606

Setting: Inpatient, critical care intensivists

Schedule:  Full-time (40 hours), days, nights, weekends, holidays.

Call schedule: No call

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician. 


Qualifications - External

Requirements:

  • Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience: 1+ years as an advanced practice provider in a critical care setting
