BREAST MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST OPPORTUNITY
The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute
Hartford Hospital, an 867-bed tertiary care center, is the flagship hospital of Hartford HealthCare. In anticipation of planned expansion of the cancer center we are seeking a medical oncologist with breast cancer sub-specialization to join our 4 breast medical oncologists. The busy breast service sees over 600 new cases of breast cancer annually cared for by a multi-disciplinary team of fellowship trained breast surgeons and medical and radiation oncologists sub-specializing in breast cancer. The clinical team is well supported by pathologists and radiologists, many of whom are fellowship trained as well as by reconstructive surgeons, a mature genetic counselling program and an active nurse navigator program. Formal programs in survivorship, high risk care, patient education and breast rehabilitation services are in development. The hospital has active clinical trial and health disparities research programs and is a main member of SWOG and NRG. Hartford Hospital is the largest teaching hospital in the University of Connecticut medical school system with medical residents and oncology fellows in training.
Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute has oversight of all aspects of oncologic care across the 7-hospital healthcare system that cares for a third of Connecticut’s population. Since 2014, it has been a strategic partner with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) with the intention that patients with cancer will have the same quality of care, access to emerging technologies, and opportunities to participate in clinical trials within Connecticut as they would in New York.
Ideally situated between Boston and New York City, Connecticut offers you and your family the finest schools in the nation; four beautiful seasons of recreational activities, and options to live at the shore, in leafy suburbs, or in vibrant urban areas.
This position is open to mid-career medical oncologists, as well to physicians completing their fellowship with an interest in breast oncology, who desire to further their professional development in an academic-community healthcare system. Expressions of interest can be directed to Jonathan Nye, Physician Recruiter at Jonathan.Nye@hhchealth.org or call, text (860) 657-6087.
