Director, Medical Oncology - East Region

Hartford HealthCare (HHC), the most comprehensive integrated healthcare system in Connecticut, seeks a Medical Oncologist with demonstrated leadership experience to serve as Medical Director and lead the Cancer Institute’s programs in our East Region.  The East Region leader will oversee cancer care at two hospitals and four ambulatory medical oncology practice sites, all of which have been newly constructed or renovated in the last 5 years.   The incumbent will work closely with the region’s medical and administrative leadership team, medical oncology directors across our other 4 regions, and with Cancer Institute senior leadership.

The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute is comprised of a team of more than 40 medical oncologists who are local and national leaders in their fields. Many of our physicians have advanced sub-specialty training, and are backed by a full team of interdisciplinary medical and surgical specialists across the system of care. The institute is structured around interdisciplinary disease management teams and clinical councils that:

  • Establish standards of care
  • Develop our clinical trials portfolio
  • Foster program development to address clinical needs

The mission of the Cancer Institute is to foster the delivery of cancer care that is equitable and patient-centered within a healthcare system dedicated to quality improvement and clinical research.  The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute sees more than 7,000 analytic cases/year.

In 2014, HHC and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) formed a strategic partnership whose mission is to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from academic medical centers to community healthcare.  In addition to adopting MSK standards of care, we collaborate on clinical trials and research in a variety of health services research areas such as geriatric oncology, palliative care and medical informatics.

About Hartford HealthCare:
